Specialist in advocacy and advisory work and adjudication, arbitration, litigation and mediation of construction, engineering, energy and professional negligence disputes. Practice covers cases ranging from client/developer claims (extensions of time, loss and expense etc), defects, PFI disputes, professional negligence, contractors' and sub-contractors' claims, adjudication enforcement, disputes relating to bonds (domestic and international), rail disputes, power stations and oil and gas projects. Chartered Arbitrator, accredited adjudicator and mediator. Arbitration work covers domestic and international disputes, including ICC appointments. Recent significant reported cases include Grove Developments Ltd v S&T(UK) Ltd [2018], Grove Developments Ltd v Balfour Beatty Ltd [2016] and Rendlesham Estates Plc v Barr Ltd [2015]. Instructed in EnergySolutions Inc v Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in respect of quantum for the loss of a decommissioning contract, claimed at £180m, and in Accolade v Volker Fitzpatrick, one of the Lawyer’s top 20 cases in 2014, regarding £150m claim for defects arising out of piling and floor slab issues.
