Career

Alejandro Sainz chairs the Insolvency, Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice area and is a member of the Financial, Corporate Reorganizations and Compliance, as well as Corporate Governance and Investigations practice groups at Sainz. He has more than 30 years of experience advising and representing clients (both debtors and creditors) in all legal aspects related to complex insolvency and restructuring matters, in Mexico and cross-border (both in extrajudicial and judicial proceedings in Mexico -concursos mercantiles- and in the Mexican legal aspects of U.S. Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings), as well as in legal matters involving financial aspects, liability management, refinancing, corporate reorganizations and sale and purchase of assets in special or complex situations.

Throughout his career, he has represented corporate clients in various industries, both nationally and internationally, domestic and foreign companies (both public and private), and several ad-hoc committees of international bonds and notes issued abroad by Mexican issuers, as well as other domestic and foreign banks, key creditors, suppliers and vendors.

He is also recognized for his service to the community by providing pro-bono representation to various organizations. He is a Mediator certified by the Mexican Mediation Institute and has participated in numerous complex negotiations as lead counsel. He has taught and participated in several courses, seminars, postgraduate courses and panels in Mexico and abroad, on topics such as restructuring, commercial bankruptcy and cross-border restructuring and insolvency proceedings. In addition, he actively participates in several boards of directors and committees.
