Alberto Guzmán is the founding partner of Guzmán & Cía. Abogados, established in 1996. He holds a Law degree from the University of Chile (1992) and pursued advanced studies in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, completing postgraduate diplomas in Environmental Control and Management and in Electricity Sector Regulation, both at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile.
Before founding the firm, Alberto practiced as an associate at Claro & Cía. (1990–1996). He has also served as professor of Water Law at the University of Chile Law School and of the Master’s program in Mining and Water Law at Universidad Finis Terrae.
Throughout his career, Alberto has authored and co-authored several national and international publications, including Estudio de las Aguas en el Derecho Chileno (1993), Reflexiones en Torno al Proyecto de Ley que Modifica al Código de Aguas (1993), and Water Under Chilean Law (1997), prepared for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation seminar on Mining Development in Latin America.
