Ahmed Al-Janabi is a commercial and corporate lawyer based in Iraq. His practice focuses on complex transactions in the oil & gas sector. Ahmed is a recognized legal expert in the Iraqi oil & gas industry and, in the course of the last 15 years, he has advised numerous international clients on all aspects of oil & gas legislation and related transactional issues in Iraq.
In addition to the main focus of his practice, Ahmed advises on corporate structuring and re-structuring, labour law issues and on public-private partnerships, including all tax related issues.
Ahmed has also led litigation and arbitration teams in Iraq and has represented numerous multinational corporations in Iraq.
Ahmed has advised on some of the pioneering public private partnership transactions in Iraq. Has also advised on some of the most important Iraqi M&A transactions and numerous high-profile oil sector contracts.
Ahmed Al-Janabi joined Mena Associates in Association with Amereller Legal Consultants in 2006 and became a partner in 2012. He has been instrumental in establishing the Iraqi offices of Mena Associates and heads the Iraqi Practice.
Ahmed was admitted to the Iraqi Bar in 2006. He has also been a member of the Iraqi Jurists Association since 2006 and of the Iraqi Translators Association since 2000.
Ahmed Al-Janabi is a co-author of the Firm’s ‘Legal Guide to Doing Business in Iraq’. He regularly publishes on implications of the Iraqi legislation (commercial agency law, customs) for multinational companies.
