Ahmed Al-Janabi is the Managing Partner of the Baghdad office and Head of AMERELLER’s Iraq practice. He is consistently ranked for his expertise in oil and gas and is widely recognised as a leading adviser to energy companies operating in Iraq.
With over 20 years of experience, Ahmed advises international and regional clients on corporate and commercial matters, project finance, labor law, dispute resolution, and high-value energy sector transactions. He has represented some of the largest oil and gas companies active in Iraq and has advised on landmark Iraqi M&A transactions and complex oil sector contracts.
Ahmed regularly engages with Iraqi ministries, regulatory authorities, and state-owned entities on behalf of national and international energy clients, providing strategic guidance in navigating Iraq’s legal and regulatory framework.
Career
Ahmed Al-Janabi joined MENA Associates in association with AMERELLER in 2007 and became a partner in 2012. He has been instrumental in establishing the Iraqi offices of Mena Associates and heads the Iraqi Practice.
Ahmed was admitted to the Iraqi Bar in 2007. He has also been a member of the Iraqi Jurists Association since 2007 and of the Iraqi Translators Association since 2000.
In addition to his main focus on oil and gas, he assists clients in a broad range of legal matters that includes commercial and corporate law, labor law, dispute resolution, and frequently advises international clients in high profile matters in Iraq.
