Aditya graduated from the prestigious National Law School of India University with a BA LLB (Hons) in 2003. He started his career under the tutelage of senior advocates KG Raghavan and K Arun Kumar. He joined the disputes practice at AZB in 2004 and grew with the firm. After 20 years at AZB as senior partner and head of disputes in Bangalore, Aditya started the Chambers of Aditya Vikram Bhat in April 2024. Aditya lives in Bangalore but travels anywhere that work takes him.
Aditya’s practice straddles arbitration, litigation, and increasingly now, mediation. While Aditya considers himself a generalist, his areas of expertise include shareholder disputes, company law, complex commercial disputes, civil and criminal aspects of fraud (especially in the corporate sector), matters arising out of FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) and PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act), matters relating to the Prevention of Corruption Act and broader white-collar offences.
Apart from having appeared before courts and tribunals across the length and breadth of India, Aditya has appeared as counsel in arbitration and mediation in the United States, England, The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Singapore, and Mauritius.
Aditya is enrolled with the Karnataka State Bar Council and is entitled to practice in all courts in India.
Aditya is a revising editor for CR Datta's seminal work on Indian Company Law. His shorter pieces are published frequently in a variety of publications.
Since 2023 Aditya also serves as a Government Advocate for the State of Karnataka, appearing for the State in a wide variety of contentious matters on a variety of subjects including indirect tax, constitutional law, service law, arbitration and commercial disputes.
A strategist at heart and a realist in practice, Aditya brings to the table a simple philosophy: never over-commit, never under-deliver.
