Adam Sadinsky

● Refugee Protection: Frequently represents individuals in refugee claims before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) as well as other elements of the refugee protection system including representation at the Canada-U.S. border and in Pre-Removal Risk Assessments. Handles complex legal issues including exclusion under Articles 1E and 1F of the Refugee Convention, vacation proceedings, cases involving allegations of delay/abuse of process.

● Personal immigration: Assists clients with all forms of temporary and permanent residence matters including family sponsorship, study permits, work permits under international free trade agreements, criminal rehabilitation, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and temporary resident permits.

● Appellate & Constitutional Litigation: Maintains an active public-law and appellate practice. He has served as co-counsel for the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers in interventions before the Supreme Court of Canada and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

● Advisory work: Advises criminal and family lawyers representing non-citizens on the immigration implications faced by their clients.

Adam has practiced immigration and refugee law exclusively since 2017.

He serves as Vice-President of CARL and acts as its primary media spokesperson. He regularly provides expert commentary to national and international media. He has testified on behalf of CARL before Parliamentary Committees and has led its advocacy efforts in significant campaigns, including the response to Bill C-12 and advocacy for national legal aid for immigration and refugee legal services.

Prior to being called to the Bar of Ontario, he completed internships at the Department of Justice and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

● A.A. v. Z.S.M., 2025 ONCA 283 & Kirby v. Woods, 2025 ONCA 601: Counsel for intervener CARL before the Ontario Court of Appeal in two significant cases establishing legal frameworks at the intersection of family law return applications, Hague Convention obligations, and refugee protection before the Immigration and Refugee Board.
