London is home to WilmerHale’s preeminent international arbitration practice, which is instructed by companies, States and individuals. The team is involved in disputes in all parts of the world, under all leading institutional rules. The practice is devoted exclusively to international arbitration and handles all its own advocacy. WilmerHale lawyers also serve as arbitrators, mediators and expert witnesses on issues of international dispute resolution. The team has particular experience in disputes involving energy and oil and gas, joint ventures and M&A, financial services, states or state-entities, intellectual property, construction and engineering, international trade, securities and competition law, insurance and reinsurance, and telecommunications.

Investigations & Criminal Litigation:
The firm’s investigations and criminal litigation lawyers advise on all aspects of criminal and regulatory investigations, working across jurisdictions on matters such as fraud, insider dealing, market abuse, bribery and corruption, money laundering and cartel defence. The team acts in corporate investigations for some of the largest companies in the world, as well as for senior individuals who are the subject of investigations by the Serious Fraud Office or Financial Conduct Authority. The team also provides UK advice in matters emanating from the US and other jurisdictions in which WilmerHale has a strong presence.

Financial Services Enforcement:
The firm’s UK financial services lawyers are experienced in all aspects of FCA-related enforcement action, with particular experience in representing senior executives facing regulatory exposure.

Intellectual Property Litigation:
WilmerHale has one of the leading IP litigation practices in the world. The firm’s highly regarded UK practitioners have tried some of Europe’s most high-profile cases, including cases in the House of Lords, the UK Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The practice advises clients across the full range of intellectual property disputes, including those relating to patents, breach of confidence and trade secrets, trademarks, passing off, domain names, copyright, registered designs and design right.
