Administrative & Regulatory:

The administrative and regulatory team of the firm is one of the most experienced and respected in the country. It provides legal assistance to clients of different industrial and strategic sectors when entering into public bids, in the negotiation of special administrative contracts, compliance with administrative contracts and law, drafting and negotiating projects of regulations, challenging administrative acts, normative analysis and administrative (regulatory) litigation.

Arbitration & Litigation:
The firm’s arbitration and litigation practice is one of the main referents of dispute resolution in Bolivia. It has successfully assisted a wide range of clients, including private and public companies, in some of the most representative cases over the last decade. As to the last twelve months, the firm has arbitrated and litigated disputes, with a value of over 2 billion dollars. The firm litigates in judicial courts all over the country. With regard to international arbitration, it has experience representing clients in very complex disputes under the ICC, ICSID and UNITRAL arbitration rules, and in the local arena, participates in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations such as the Cámara Nacional de Comercio CNC, CAINCO and CADECO).

Antitrust & Competition:
Within the area, Wayar & von Borries Abogados has provided legal services to a beverage corporation, the biggest private company operating in Bolivia, one of the main telecommunications company in the country, and an oil and gas services provider corporation, among others.

Banking & Finance:
The firm provides legal services to both financial institutions and its clients. At present, Wayar & von Borries renders legal services to one of the main banks in Bolivia. On the other hand, it renders legal advisory and representation to companies and natural persons when negotiating contracts with financial institutions, guarantees, debt, etc.

Constitutional Law:
As a matter of principle, the constitution is over any other normative. That is to say that a solid knowledge of constitutional law is essential for the duly practice of all other law areas. The way the members of this law firm master constitutional law allows them a broader panorama for every transaction, contract or dispute, providing clients with better alternatives and predictability. Constitutional law services include the preparation and presentation of constitutional actions or defences.

Traditionally, the firm’s former and present senior partners have been actively involved in the development of insurance normative, which provides the team with solid knowledge when rendering legal services to their clients in insurance law, such as negotiation of insurance contracts. Wayar & von Borries also has a very strong dispute resolution team on insurance law, which provides legal counsel to the main insurance company in Bolivia in its insurance disputes.

Labour & Social Security:
The labour and social security practice assists its clients with the drafting and negotiation of contracts, compliance with the labour and social regulations, and negotiations with unions and litigation. The firm also represents and assists clients in very complex negotiations with the unions.

Mining Law:
The firm assists private mining companies from the very beginning of its projects in Bolivia. From the research of free mining areas to the negotiation of agreements, from the day-to-day law assistance to the representation in complex national and international disputes.
