VELMA Law is one of the leading legal advisory firms in Tanzania and was founded by Nicholas Zervos and Victoria Makani in 2012.
VELMA Law provides legal advice on Tanzanian matters in Corporate/Commercial, PPP / infrastructure projects, Energy, Finance / Project Finance, Mining, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Property, Telecommunications, Pro Bono, Employment, Tax, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Immigration law.
Nicholas was a finance and international projects partner for an international firm in London before coming to Dar es Salaam in 2006 and is now admitted to the bars in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Victoria became a Justice of the High Court of Tanzania and left the firm in August 2015 and after retirement as a Judge she has returned to VELMA Law as “Senior Counsel” since 2023.
The VELMA Law team currently comprises 11 lawyers, including partners Janet Ndyetabura, Geoffrey Gasper, Habyalimana Mayeye and Nicholas Zervos, plus support staff and interns.
