Land Use, Zoning, Administrative, & Municipal Litigation:
Throughout the State of Florida, the firm has represented the interests of property owners, governmental bodies, and affected individuals and advocacy groups in all types of litigation and administrative proceedings addressing the proposed entitlement and development of land. This representation includes matters relating to zoning, eminent domain and the prosecution and defense of claims for inverse condemnation.
Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
The firm has extensive experience in the litigation of complex business and real estate disputes throughout the State of Florida. The firm is highly selective with respect to the litigation it undertakes on behalf of clients, and limits its caseload to those cases which present unique issues of law or which would benefit from the firm’s experience in having litigated and tried many complex cases involving its core practice areas. The firm is also regularly called upon to serve as local counsel to numerous national law firms with respect to litigation in the state and federal courts in Florida, and prides itself in its ability to identify, negotiate, and consummate the settlement of extremely contentious matters.
Strategic Regulatory Analysis & Governmental Affairs:
The firm possesses lawyers with an academic background in economics and public policy analysis, particularly in the context of regulated industries, and combines this academic perspective with years of litigation and public advocacy experience at all levels of municipal, state, and federal government. This balance of theoretical and practical experience enables the firm to offer counsel to clients whose businesses or investments are directly affected by governmental regulation policies. Although most of this representation involves analysis of the regulation of land, it has also offered counsel with respect to water rights, timber rights, and the regulation of various extractive industries, particularly limerock mining.
The firm has considerable experience in representing its clients before state and federal appellate courts, particularly with respect to complex or novel legal issues presented in the land use, municipal law, and commercial litigation contexts.
