Saffery Champness has been providing fiduciary services in Guernsey for more than 40 years. It is one of the largest independent providers of fiduciary services on the island, combining its independence with professional ethos and heritage.

Employing over 120 people in Guernsey, the firm maintains strong links with its colleagues in its Swiss and Dubai offices. The teams are experienced in dealing with multi-jurisdictional, often complex, structures across different asset classes.

Its clients are diverse in terms of their requirements, where their wealth is derived, where their assets are located and their jurisdictional connections.

Saffery Champness has considerable experience and expertise in working with very high profile individuals and families including Politically Exposed Persons and Commercially Exposed Persons and administering their affairs effectively. It looks after the affairs of many ultra-high and high net worth individuals, ranging from Eastern European and Middle Eastern UHNW families, sports personalities, to property developers and clients with more modest assets held within straightforward investment portfolios.

Succession and Asset Protection

The firm’s offshore fiduciary teams have expertise in managing trusts, private trust companies, foundations, family offices and corporate structures to ensure that legacies are passed on, and values are preserved, whilst enabling the successor generation to forge their own destiny.

The teams at Saffery Champness have experience in providing trustee services to, and dealing with dynastic issues for, wealthy multi-generational families and their respective family assets. They have specialist experience in dealing with Middle Eastern and Russian/CIS clients in relation to their respective succession planning and asset protection structuring.

The firm provides practical solutions to the challenges experienced by clients who may live or trade in areas of political or economic instability. Through these structuring solutions, its clients can plan for succession and protect their assets from threats, including sovereign risk, repatriation or forced heirship in the most efficient manner possible.

Family Office

Saffery Champness works in partnership with the private offices of a number of international families and understands the diverse and often complex scenarios involved with family dynamics.

Services range from concierge-style services to looking after the family’s financial affairs, and dealing with Intellectual Property, image and commercial rights.

As part of its fiduciary responsibility, they are able to monitor and report on asset performance on a risk adjusted basis and have expertise in dealing with other family assets such as aircraft, yachts, art and antiquities, as well as private residences.
