With a history of record-setting results, Lyons & Simmons has secured jury verdicts and aggregated confidential settlements totaling more than $1 billion for clients involved in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful-death cases since 2023.

Approaching every case in the same way they would expect their own family to be represented, firm founders Michael Lyons and Christopher Simmons are devoted to leveling the playing field for those who seemingly have the deck stacked against them. The firm’s mantra is simple, “when the result means everything.” Lyons & Simmons is never simply satisfied with large verdicts and settlements. They want the victims’ sacrifices to create accountability and change so that others do not have to experience the same fate. The firm has an impressive track record of creating material changes to corporate conduct in the wake of being forced to take accountability for the destruction and life-altering result underlying a tragedy.

Keeping their clients’ future well-being their top priority has helped Lyons & Simmons score big results in important cases. In early 2025, Michael Lyons, Chris Simmons, Chris Carr, Wes Black and Michael Wozniak secured a $109.5 million jury verdict against a gas utility defendant after a natural gas-fueled home explosion injured two occupants. In 2024, Michael Lyons was part of a trial team that secured a $37.5 Million verdict against Oncor Energy for a fatality crash incident. In 2023, Michael Lyons was part of the trial team that secured an $860 million verdict against Greystar for the family of a young woman killed when a tower crane tore through her downtown Dallas apartment building. In 2022, a trial team of Michael Lyons, Chris Carr, Michael Fechner and Stephen Higdon secured a $10.1 million jury verdict on behalf of woman who was left a paraplegic for botched emergency care at Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound. The case was named one of the “Top 10 Most Impressive Plaintiff’s Wins” for the 2022 calendar year by Courthouse Viewing Network (CVN) who streamed the case live. In 2021, Michael Lyons, Chris Simmons, Chris Carr and Stephen Higdon obtained a $5.9 million verdict against a West Texas energy construction company for a fatality motor vehicle crash. The verdict was the largest for a wrongful death personal injury case in one of Texas’ most conservative venues, Midland County, Texas. The verdict earned the trial team the prestigious John Howie Award from the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association for “the courageous pursuit of justice in the face of adversity”.

Having filed one of the first wrongful death lawsuits related to the 2021 Astroworld Festival deadly crowd surge in Houston, Lyons and Simmons played lead roles on the Plaintiffs’ MDL Executive Committee, tasked with holding responsible those whose decisions led to the tragedy. Over the course of nearly three years, the attorneys were tenacious in their determination to establish accountability among the various defendants.
