Firm Overview:
KPMG Law has been providing business law services to Canadian and foreign firms for decades. In the early years, the firm largely operated in support of KPMG in Canada’s existing service lines in audit, tax and accounting.

In the mid-2010’s, however, the firm started to recognise that KPMG Law could stand alone as a top tier law firm. What’s more, the firm’s leadership saw that – as an independent law firm connected to the KPMG network of member firms – the firm’s lawyers and professionals could be providing Canadian and foreign companies with a full range of business law solutions (with or without the participation of KPMG in Canada). The idea was innovative: build a firm of exceptional business lawyers embedded into a recognised and trusted global professional services platform. Instead of being a ‘cog in the wheel’ of business deals and transactions, KPMG Law’s professionals could serve as the linchpin – acting as a conduit to a wide range of business services for their clients.

Today, KPMG Law’s service offerings have expanded significantly to include a wide range of tax, business, immigration, real estate, employment and labour, and private client services. The firm’s bench strength has deepened to dozens of professionals.

Main Areas of Practice:

Real Estate and Leasing
As part of the KPMG network of member firms, the real estate lawyers work closely with teams of cross-functional professionals across the real-estate deal lifecycle – from due diligence and appraisals through to tax planning and even operations – to ensure clients are making the best deals possible for their organisation.

KPMG Law immigration lawyers deliver smart talent strategies and creative workforce solutions. KPMG Law understands the competitive nature of today’s talent environment, and knows that immigration plays a key role in shaping a sustainable talent and workforce strategy. That is why KPMG Law professionals go beyond simply processing applications to instead focus on helping clients turn immigration into a talent driver.
