Firm Overview:
Since its founding in 1888, Hughes Hubbard has provided high quality and high value service for its clients in resolving their most challenging and complex legal problems. With clients around the globe and lawyers from over 20 countries who speak more than two dozen languages, Hughes Hubbard has a strong global focus and prominent international practice, including an established and well known Latin America group. In 2016, the firm entered into a cooperation agreement with Saud Advogados, a Brazilian firm. The agreement gives Hughes Hubbard’s clients direct access to local law capabilities in Brazil, and provides Saud Advogados’ Brazilian clients access to a US and global perspective. Hughes Hubbard offers an in-depth understanding of the nuances of Latin America business transactions. Lawyers in the firm’s Latin America practice speak Spanish, Portuguese, or both; many have lived or worked in the region, and have great familiarity with Latin American culture. Hughes Hubbard’s wide range of legal services enables the firm to represent Latin American companies doing business in the United States and around the world, as well as multinational corporations and financial institutions doing business in Latin America.

RECENT ACCOLADES:
Hughes Hubbard has been consistently ranked by The American Lawyer as one of the most elite law firms in the US. Additionally, Latin Lawyer 250 routinely selects Hughes Hubbard as a recommended firm. The firm has also either been a winner or a finalist for several Chambers Awards for Excellence including “Excellence in Latin America Corporate & Finance,” “Excellence in International Trade,” and “Excellence in International Arbitration,” which the firm has won twice. Hughes Hubbard’s Latin America practice has acted as lead counsel in a number of transactions named ‘Deals of the Year’ by various publications in recent years. The firm’s $4.35 billion Petrobras financing was named ‘Syndicated Loan of the Year’ by LatinFinance magazine. In addition, the firm’s $900 million Fibria financing was named ‘Trade Finance Deal of the Year’ by LatinFinance.

The firm’s aviation practice is also widely recognised. In the last six years, 12 Hughes Hubbard deals have been selected ‘Deal of the Year’ by Airfinance Journal. Hughes Hubbard was also named 'Americas Law Firm of the Year' for 2017 by Airline Economics magazine. One of the firm’s best-known cross-border practices, international arbitration, also consistently receives awards for being among the world’s best. For four years in a row, it was identified as one of the world’s leading international arbitration law firms in the elite GAR 30. The firm also received the Silver Award from the International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards as a top firm in arbitration and the first Legal 500 US Award for ‘International Arbitration Team of the Year.’
