Medical Malpractice Defense

The firm has its roots in medical malpractice defense, and prides itself on its zealous and aggressive representation of hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in complex litigation and before the various Boards of Registration. Our experienced team provides strategic counsel and vigorous advocacy at every stage, from pre-suit investigation to trial and appeal. We also routinely counsel our clients on reporting requirements, internal proceedings, and credentialing matters.

General Liability

The general liability team advises insurers, businesses, and individuals in claims ranging from wrongful death, catastrophic injury, traumatic brain injury, products liability, construction accidents, premises liability, automobile and trucking accidents, dog bites, slip and falls, recreational claims and other general liability matters including coverage issues. Our work in these areas is marked by our efficiency, attention to detail, and a results-oriented approach. Our clients include numerous national insurers as well as local, corporate clients seeking trusted defense counsel across our multiple jurisdictions in New England.

Real Estate

Since our inception, the HMDR&S team has represented affiliated real estate brokers and professionals in complex real estate litigation matters involving misrepresentation, fraud, and violations of 93A. Our attorneys have successfully defended these claims in both state and federal courts, licensing boards and before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. We know and appreciate the myriad of problems faced by the real estate industry and its professionals and work directly with our real estate professionals to address the most cost efficient and effective resolution.

Employment/EPLI Defense

What started as an outgrowth of our defense litigations work for our medical clients has grown into a strong area of our practice, having successfully defended our clients in matters before the EEOC, MCAD and at trial both in the United States District Court and in State Court here in Massachusetts, priding ourself on a zealous pursuit of Summary Judgment and early dismissal of these cases, when possible. Additionally, we routinely review our clients’ policies, procedures, and practices in this regard, providing advice and counsel on an ad hoc and routine basis on these challenging issues.
