Firm Overview:
Gordon Tilden Thomas & Cordell LLP is a Northwest trial firm with a reputation for skilled advocacy and creative problem-solving. The firm counts among its ranks Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and American College of Coverage Counsel, as well as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. GTTC lawyers prepare every matter on the assumption it will be tried. Viewing cases through this lens serves GTTC’s clients well, whether the case is tried to verdict or resolved at the settlement table.
Main Areas of Practice:
GTTC lawyers have developed widely recognized expertise in four practice areas.
Insurance Recovery:
GTTC’s insurance recovery team is led by Frank Cordell and Dale Kingman, both Fellows of the American College of Coverage Counsel. GTTC is the go-to firm for Washington policyholders, and its lawyers have handled many of the cases that have made Washington one of the most policyholder-friendly jurisdictions in the country. Further, GTTC regularly represents business insureds from around the country in disputes in the Pacific Northwest and many other jurisdictions, earning the firm a national reputation.
GTTC advises policyholders and prosecutes coverage litigation in connection with a broad range of coverage lines, underlying liabilities, and related issues, including: environmental property damage and bodily injury; employment discrimination; products liability; cyber losses; D&O and professional liability; commercial crime; construction defects; builder’s risk; insurance archaeology and lost policies; insurer insolvency proceedings; insurer bad faith; broker liability; and London-market issues. GTTC’s coverage practice ranges from large-scale litigation on behalf of international corporate policyholders to trying bad-faith claims under personal-line coverages.
Business Litigation:
Guided by Michael Rosenberger and American Board of Trial Advocates member Jeff Thomas, GTTC lawyers have litigated a broad spectrum of complicated business cases. The firm is particularly accomplished in the following areas: complex contract disputes; large-scale construction litigation; disputes over non-compete agreements and trade secret protection; employment, including contract negotiations, advice regarding workplace investigations, representation related to EEOC charges, and litigation of employment disputes; consumer and product-liability class actions; professional negligence claims; and real estate litigation.
High-Stakes Personal Injury:
GTTC is noted for its strength in the resolution of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Unlike most personal injury practices, GTTC does not limit itself to representing only plaintiffs or only defendants. This balance enhances GTTC’s effectiveness in both roles. GTTC’s personal injury practice is anchored by Mark Wilner and Jeff Tilden, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Trust and Estate Litigation:
GTTC partner Kasey Huebner leads the firm’s trust, estate, and fiduciary litigation practice. For the past two years Kasey has served as co-chair of the Annual Trust and Estate Litigation Seminar hosted by the Washington State Bar Association’s Real Property Probate and Trust Section, and she formerly served as Chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Litigation Section. She and other GTTC lawyers represent beneficiaries, trustees, attorneys-in-fact, and representatives in a wide variety of litigation, such as disputes related to alleged fiduciary breaches, guardianships, will contests, powers of attorney, interpretation of estate planning documents, and trust and estate-related business disputes.
Clients:
The firm represents government entities, and regional, national, and international businesses, including: Avalara Inc.; Brooks Sports, Inc.; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; City of Seattle; Expedia, Inc.; Gibraltar Industries, Inc.; HomeStreet, Inc.; Kennedy Wilson; Poarch Band of Creek Indians; Providence St. Joseph Health; Puget Sound Energy, Inc.; Rollins, Inc.; Seattle Tunnel Partners; Snohomish County, Washington; Vulcan Inc.; and Zonar Systems, Inc.
