Over three decades ago, in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai, one of the most eye-catching epicenters of China’s economic reform and opening-upto the outside world, Duan & Daun, the firstpartnership law firm, wasfounded and funded by returningoverseas Chinese students(“Returnees”). China Central Television (CCTV)reported this event as“a strongsignal for Economic Reform and Opening-up”. Charles Duan Qihua, the firm’s key founder, carried a ReturneeID Card No.0000011, an IDfor short-term work permit for Returnees; this IDis now deposited with the National Museum of China as acollectible item with historic significance.There and then, Duan & Duan was born and has been gaining strength and reputation.
