BRS AVOCATS is the result of the 2010 merger between the firms BERGER, RECORDON & de SAUGY, on the one hand, and ROULET AVOCATS, on the other hand, both active in Geneva for over 30 years. The firm which has a wide general practice however focuses on Family law, Inheritance law, wealth planning and also on contracts, torts and litigation, and banking law. Following polls in Switzerland based on the opinion of 6,500 lawyers, in-house lawyers and clients, BRS Avocats has been nominated as one of the top five Family Law Firms in Switzerland for the years 2017 and 2018.
Main Areas of Practice:
The family law team, founded and headed by Alain Berger, with five lawyers, advises clients in all aspects of family law and related matters such as inheritance, trusts, wills and protection of assets. The team is used to prepare and negotiate complex pre- and post- nuptial agreements, in substantial assets or income cases, as well as continental law marriage contracts.
In national, international and transnational cases, the team is known as a strong arguing one, and has a wide expertise in all aspects of the consequences of a breakdown of a marriage, though trying to find out of court solutions, whenever possible. The team is familiar with all types of family proceedings, including, occasionally with the skills of Jean de Saugy, enforcement and recognition of foreign court orders. The team is also very active in international child abduction.
Notwithstanding its arguing court practice in transnational and international large divorces cases, it is also known as a mediation and conciliation practice team, in matrimonial proceedings.
The firm is also very active in wealth planning, and has a wide expertise in assets protection, in particular trust, and banking matters with the expertise of Jean de Saugy.
In the area of torts and litigation, Jacques Roulet, who is also a Deputy Judge at the Criminal Court, leads a team of five lawyers which specialises in insurance law, claims, civil liability and torts.
