Firm Overview:
In 1993, the founders of Bartlit Beck left Kirkland & Ellis to start a new type of firm — no billable hours, a billing model that aligned the client’s and the firm’s interests, and a singular focus on achieving extraordinary outcomes for its clients. The expertise of Bartlit Beck’s litigation practice is trying and winning high-stakes cases, and the firm’s corporate attorneys represent clients in a wide variety of complex transactions, with a particular focus on middle-market mergers and acquisitions.

Main Areas of Practice:

Trial Practice:

Bartlit Beck’s trial practice model is different — because experience is needed to win complex, high-stakes cases, over 80% of the firm’s lawyers are partners, resulting in the average lawyer having 16 years of experience. Every year during the last decade, more than two-thirds of the firm’s lawyers have argued substantive motions and over half have gone to trial. One-third of all Bartlit Beck litigators have first-chair commercial civil trial experience gained at the firm. This model has also enabled Bartlit Beck to attract industry-leading talent. Twenty-five percent of the trial lawyers who joined Bartlit Beck in the last 15 years are former U.S. Supreme Court clerks.
The firm’s litigation clients include Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Gilead, ConocoPhillips, Sabre Spirit AeroSystems, UnitedHealth Group and USG.
