Litigation & Dispute Resolution:

ALP has acted for Sovereign governments, State entities and multinationals in complex multi-party domestic litigation and international commercial arbitrations. Its members’ unique experiences make it Nigeria’s leading commercial dispute resolution firm in representing clients before all Nigerian courts and International Investment Arbitrations before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and ICC.


Corporate and Compliance Services

Energy and Natural Resources


Our team advises clients on the establishment and implementation of the establish complex regulatory frameworks, energy project financing, and other transactions across the energy and natural resources value chain—from oil and gas to renewables and mining.

We blend local expertise with global best practices, ensuring our clients navigate market uncertainties and capitalize on emerging opportunities with confidence. Within a relatively short period, we have advised clients on certain significant matters such as:


  • the establishment and operation of the electricity generation and distribution network in Eko Atlantic City which relies on 6MW capacity generating plant, a strong transmission line and an expansive distribution network;
  • the World Bank US$330million financed Nigerian Electrification Project operated by the Rural Electrification Agency for the establishment of renewable energy projects in Nigeria.
  • the establishment and implementation of result-based financing programmes by a quasi-international organisation in six (6) countries across Africa for the construction and operation of renewable solutions such as mini-grids and solar-standalone systems for households, public institutions and businesses;
  • the conceptualisation of Oyo State’s electricity framework and development of the implementation roadmap for the electricity framework following the decentralisation of electricity regulation in Nigeria; and
  • the development of the mining industry by a state government seeking to improve its legal and regulatory framework to encourage investment and efficiency in the industry.


Infrastructure and Real Estate

  • the concession, development, operation and management of the ten million sq.m US$6billion Eko Atlantic City project in Lagos State, on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean; and
  • development and proposed concession of an international cargo airport in Southwest Nigeria.

  • Advising Quramo, a Lagos-based publisher on the operation of its businesses, including the book publications, event organising and intellectual property licensing; and
  • PetroApp, a payment facilitator, in the establishment and operation of its automated fuel management, retail purchase and consumption monitoring business in Nigeria.


Financial Services, Banking and Capital Markets

  • Advising a development financial institution in connection with a US$200million bridge loan facility for the purpose of the development of a transportation infrastructure project.
  • Advising a state government in respect of a loan in the sum of NGN55,000,000,000,000 (Fifty-Five Billion Naira) from a consortium of commercial banks for infrastructure and social projects.
  • Advising on the establishment and issuance of green bonds to raise up to US$80million to finance infrastructure and development projects in the Eko Atlantic City.
  • Advising JohnVents Industries Limited on various fund raising activities in the equity and debt capital markets including the extension and upsizing of an existing commercial paper programme.


Transport and Africa Trade

ALP represents ship-owners interests in cargo disputes, carriage claims, issues related to bills of lading and contracts of affreightment generally, charter party disputes, and the release of cargo and ship from arrest. Members of ALP have represented clients in the otherwise arduous procedure of arrest and release of vessels by effectively and efficiently utilising a combination of court process and port authority access. We have advised on major transactions such as the financing for the Lagos Blue Line Light Rail Project.
