AcumenADR was established in 2019 by Richard F. Ziegler and Noah J. Hanft, both of whom had served as general counsels of major global companies, to support their individual practices as arbitrators and mediators. Richard was Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs & General Counsel of the 3M Company in 2003-07, a global diversified technology company headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA with subsidiaries in more than 60 countries. During Richard's tenure 3M produced products ranging from industrial abrasives and adhesives to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, drug delivery systems, filtration products, advanced, engineered materials and specialty chemicals, display films, reflective materials for safety applications, personal protective equipment and consumer products such as Scotch Tape® and Post-it Notes®. At 3M Richard led a department of about 150 lawyers based in 24 countries. Before his nearly five years at 3M Richard had been a litigation partner at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton for nearly 20 years, where he ultimately served as coordinator of the firm's litigation practice in New York and on its global Executive Committee; following his work at 3M Richard joined Jenner & Block, where he co-chaired the international arbitration practice and was managing partner of its New York office and served on the firm-wide Policy Committee.

Noah was Global General Counsel and Chief Franchise Officer of MasterCard Worldwide, the global financial services company, and thereafter served as Chief Executive Officer of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution. Like Richard, Noah is a highly experienced arbitrator with particular expertise in addressing cross-border disputes. He has extensive experience as an ICDR and CPR arbitrator and is respected for his ability to effectively manage arbitrations with parties from divergent cultures and legal systems.

AcumenADR is a shared-services platform through which Richard and Noah share expenses but do not share income; the firm does not provide any services except to its two founders, who are engaged individually to serve as ADR neutrals. Please learn more at www.acumenadr.com
