Chambers Seminar: Italian Tax Environment
This seminar will be looking at the Italian tax environment and its views towards transparency, compliance and tax risk control. It will analyse the way companies handle tax claims and their willingness to litigate or seek settlement. Overall it will aim to cover three main areas:

>The experience in some key sectors (banking, fashion and the digital economy)
>How compliance can create value

Maisto e Associati
Marco Cerrato is a partner of Maisto e Associati, is an Italian tax lawyer assisting corporate and individual clients in tax regularization procedures, tax audits and tax dispute resolutions matters including tax settlements, mutual assistance and arbitration procedures. He is also retained by banks and family offices for generational planning, lifetime asset transfers and ownership structures, transfer of residence to/from Italy and taxation/structuring of art collections having developed wide-spanning expertise in those areas. In 2015 and 2016 he has been member of the Committee of Experts on Tax and Economic Policy of the Presidency of the Italian Counsel of Ministries. In 2016 he was appointed member of the Scientific Committee of Step Italy (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and since 2018 is member of its Board of Directors. Marco obtained an LL.M. in Tax at the London School of Economics and a PhD in Tax at the University of Pavia. He is author of many publications on tax matters and is frequent speaker at congresses. Since 2002 he is lecturer of tax law at the Law faculty of the University Carlo Cattaneo of Castellanza. Marco was admitted to the Bar in 1995 and since 2008 he is admitted to the Supreme Court.
VP Global Tax
Massimo Guarnieri is currently VP Global Tax at Versace. Previously, he had a long experience in Barilla Group, where he held different roles (e.g. internal auditor, financial planning manager, Group Tax Manager). He focuses on all tax matters in Versace Group: compliance, policy, extraordinary projects, business partnerships, tax accounting and tax audits. He has gained relevant experience in international taxation and transfer pricing issues regarding products, intellectual property, services and finance. In such a framework, he has gained experience also in APA, MAP, Transfer Pricing Documentation.
Maisto e Associati
Aurelio Massimiano is a partner at Maisto e Associati. His areas of expertise comprise transfer pricing and international tax with a special focus on Advance Pricing Agreement (APA), competent authorities procedures and tax settlement. He gained consolidated experiences in the definition of tax controversies through settlement procedures in all the field of international tax (deemed residence, PE, withholding tax, transfer pricing). Aurelio has developed a large experience on transfer pricing in the asset management industry and is also specialized on transfer pricing for the luxury industry. He is a member of the board of Italian Branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He often speaks at tax conferences and lectures on international tax matters for specialization courses at university level and for various other organizations. He is the author of a number of publications on tax topics. He obtained an LL.M. Degree in International Tax Law at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. He was admitted to the Association of Chartered Accountants in 2002.
Conzorzio Studi e Ricerche Fiscali
Domenico Muratori is the Chairman of Consorzio Studi e Ricerche Fiscali, an organization belonging to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group focusing on tax advice, tax studies and tax advocacy with tax institutions. Until September 2018, he was Senior Tax Director with Intesa Sanpaolo, where he has spent most of his career after a few years in KPMG. He is considered an expert in banking, finance and insurance taxation. Former board member in Equitalia and Banco di Napoli Holding, Domenico has been statutory auditor in banks, insurance and also listed companies. He has been a member of the Tax Commissions in ABI and ANIA. From 2010 to 2015 Domenico was also part of an Interassociation Group established to address tax policies. He has been a member of many study commissions of the CPA Association of Rome. He is author of many publications on tax matters and is a frequent speaker at congresses.

Marco Valdonio is a partner at Maisto e Associati. Marco has consolidated skills in managing transfer pricing matters, in drafting and negotiating APAs and agreements with the Italian Revenue Agency, in the definition of tax controversies through settlement procedures as well as in extraordinary transactions. He also advised client on the tax aspects related to M&A and real estate transactions as well as to financial instruments. His activity covers the assistance on international taxation matters. He gained his economics and business law degree at the University of Milan "Luigi Bocconi” and is admitted to the Association of Chartered Accountants since 2002.
