Trethowans family team are best known for their no-nonsense, down to earth and client centric advice on divorce, separation and civil partnerships, finances, children, relocation, cohabitation, nuptial agreements and surrogacy. 

 

These services are provided across all five offices. The team is nationally recognised for providing alternative resolution options. Senior members of the team are collaboratively and/or mediation trained. The team are at the forefront of change in family law and can now also offer a one couple one lawyer approach where appropriate. The entire team are active members of Resolution, several sitting on regional and national committees. 

 

Following the Firm’s ethos of ‘Law. As it should be’, the team run a successful and highly regarded podcast, ‘The Candid Divorce Lawyer’ which discusses current family topics without the legal jargon.

 

Referrals come from other professionals, including solicitors and barristers as well as existing clients.

 

The team's case load often involves complex assets including, intricate business assets, inherited wealth, farming and estates and valuable pension interests. The team are also highly regarded for their specialism in private children matters.

 

In 2024, the team (particularly Grant Cameron) represented a wife in a high value and complex financial remedy case, which has since been reported, ND v KD [2024] EWFC 188 (B). This case has provided invaluable guidance to other practitioners.
