Posadas regularly represents international banks in their operations in Uruguay, having vast experience in transactional deals such as secured and syndicated lending, structured finance, and project finance, as well as in complex regulatory issues.
Posadas Banking Team is one of the largest in the field in Uruguay and has handled many of the biggest and most sophisticated transactions in banking and finance in the country, including the acquisition by Advent International of the largest commercial bank of Uruguay (Banco Comercial) and its later sale to Scotiabank, the sale of retail assets by Citibank to Banco Itau, the financing by Inter-American Development Bank of Montes del Plata, the largest pulp mill and many of the financing of relevant wind and solar projects as well as PPP infrastructure projects.
In recent years we have become a market leader in Project Financing, by participating in most of the project financings in Uruguay related to the energy and infrastructure.
Posadas Banking Team has broad experience of advising non-bank financial institutions such as Brokerage firms, Financial Advisory companies, and Foreign Exchange Companies, among others.
Our team has also participated in many public and private issuances of debt and equity, such as the unprecedented Initial Public Offering done by Areaflin S.A. (one of the largest windmills in Uruguay) and the public issuance of corporate bonds of Zonamerica, FANAPEL, San Roque, and La Tahona.
