Types of work:

a. Long-term tax and succession planning and will drafting.

b. Administration of high-value complex estates to involve negotiations with HMRC, deeds of variation and deeds of appropriation.

c. Care home funding. We are well-regarded in this field and provide specialist advice regarding NHS continuing healthcare funding. We have been successful in obtaining backdated fee awards for clients and their relatives when we are dealing with their estate. We will also negotiate with local authorities to ensure assets in trust are disregarded in financial assessments where appropriate.

d. Creation of trusts, including asset preservation trusts, trusts to enable wealth preservation and transfer to the next generation and S89 (“Disabled Person’s”) Trusts in order to provide for vulnerable beneficiaries.

e. Court of Protection applications, powers of attorney and deputyships.

f. Administration and taxation of trusts dealt with by a centralised team. We provide advice to lay and professional trustees to ensure they understand their legal obligations in an increasingly regulated and risky area of law.
