Our non-contentious team advises on the protection and exploitation of IP, including brand licensing and sponsorship agreements, technology and patent licensing, and research and development agreements.

Our IP litigation team advises on the resolution of all IP disputes (trade mark, passing off, copyright, design right, database and patent disputes and litigation), voicemail interception litigation, parallel importing, and domain name arbitration and website disputes.

The team has many longstanding clients. We advise clients across various sectors, including in the fashion, retail, food and drink, consumer product, manufacturing, technology, bio technology, software, IT and energy industries.

We have a strong reputation advising clients in the retail and fashion sectors, including for example representing clients in trade mark and design right infringement and passing off claims, advising on commercial arrangements (including brand licensing, event sponsorship, celebrity endorsements, advertising, competitions, and various IT related agreements), and advising on compliance with ecommerce and consumer regulations. The team also advises brand owners and retailers in respect of enforcing IP rights against online substitute sellers and has been working closely this year with the British Brands Group in helping brand owners tackle such infringement.
