Ashima Obhan heads the corporate law department at the Firm. Some of the work that the Corporate/M&A team undertakes:

Joint Ventures and other Transactional Support – The Firm has been advising clients on all facets of joint ventures (JVs) in India – investment strategies, corporate structures, investment documentation, compliances, IP licensing as well as exits. The Firm recently acted on behalf of the SITAC Group with respect to its JV with EDF Renewables.

Contractual Support – The Firm provides commercial contract support to in-house legal teams and handles major projects and business critical contracts for companies across various sectors. The Firm’s experience also includes commercial contracts for services, licensing, development, distribution, marketing, manufacturing, outsourcing, maintenance and support and on-line terms and conditions. 

Regulatory Compliance –The Firm advises on all elements of company law, from the establishment of a legal entity to the regulatory filings to maintaining statutory registers and books. The Firm represents its clients before various regulatory authorities.  

Advisory Support Specific to the Covid19 Situation – The Firm advises on exit rights under commercial leases and business contracts that were largely dependent on whether Covid19 could be considered a force majeure event. We advised clients on their contractual and statutory rights and helped negotiate and amend existing leases / contracts.
