About

Provided by NJORD Law Firm

In our day-to-day work, the IP team has seen significant growth over the past two years and now handles a steady stream of EUTM applications each month. In addition, we assist clients with trademark protection in key jurisdictions, including the UK, USA, and Australia through the Madrid system, as well as other regions via national applications through our international network.

Following the registration work, we also handle oppositions and often resolve them through negotiations. This area of work has also seen a notable increase in recent years.

We continue to focus on anti-counterfeiting work, adapting to our clients’ changing needs.

One emerging trend in Estonia is the growth of franchise law, which is closely connected to IP. Our department head, Karolina Ullman, brings valuable expertise to this field, having worked extensively within franchise law earlier in her career. Her experience has helped attract more franchisors from around the world who now view Estonia as a promising market for expansion.

The IP department remains one of the most integrated teams within NJORD, with daily collaboration across our offices in Denmark, Latvia, and Lithuania to serve shared clients effectively.

We have also observed an increase in cooperation with Finnish law firms seeking assistance with their clients' IP work in Estonia.
