About

Provided by Much Shelist, P.C.

Jonathan Friedland and Jeremy Waitzman have been working together on commercial litigation finance matters since 2017. Their collaborative approach has yielded a strong track record of successful closings, with the volume of deals continuing to expand year over year.

The Much team has closed numerous small deals ($10,000,000 and under) and more than a dozen larger deals. Clients include both large and small funders and fundees, and the team regularly works for, alongside, and opposite several members of the International Litigation Finance Association (ILFA).

The majority of the Much team's work in this continually evolving space involves helping commercial litigation funding clients prepare and negotiate transaction documents with their counterparties, which consist of plaintiffs and law firms seeking funding to pursue matters on behalf of plaintiffs. Additionally, the team assists commercial and consumer litigation funders with corporate matters, handles funder-fundee disputes for both sides, and supports fundees in evaluating the risks and opportunities of competing funding offers.

The transactions Much's attorneys have advised on have helped to fund cases in the areas of general commercial litigation (such as breach of contract, business torts, and other commercial disagreements), antitrust and competition (anti-competitive practices, market manipulation, and other antitrust issues), asset recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency, and patent and intellectual property.
