The sector of insurance and pension funds is one of the most active and innovative in the national economy. A series of important legislative interventions have reformed this sector:
- the general revision of the system of incorporation and operation of pension funds and of their managing institutions,
- the introduction of new regimes concerning the access to and the performance of the activity of insurance brokerage and insurance distribution, and
- the publication of a law that regulates in a global and integrated form the insurance contract in general, as well as its main modalities.
The firm has been closely monitoring all these developments and represents some of the most important insurance companies, as well as companies that manage pension funds. In some cases we provide permanent assistance and in some instances assist in a wide range of special operations.
A cross-practice team supports our clients in the design and in the preparation of insurance and re-insurance products, claims management, insurance litigation, negotiation of insurance distribution contracts, setting up of pension funds, as well as a wide range of regulatory issues and relations with the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (Autoridade de Supervisão de Seguros e Fundos de Pensões).
