What the Team is Known For

Maitland Chambers offers significant expertise in banking and finance, insolvency and civil fraud claims, and has barristers with experience of handling both domestic and international litigation and arbitration. Recent cases of note include Barton v Morris, a leading Supreme Court case on the relationship between implied terms and unjust enrichment, and Ieremeieva (and another) v Estera (and others), a long-running international fraud case concerning a Ukrainian business empire. Benjamin is superb. He really gets into the weeds, and is all over absolutely everything to a terrifying degree at times. He is also great at written communication.

 

Benjamin is ferociously intelligent and an excellent advocate both on paper and on his feet.

Rosanna's written work and submissions are on point. She prepares and thinks through what needs to be said in order to drive her point home.

 

Rosanna is extremely impressive. Rather understated in many ways, yet extremely effective and very thorough.

He is incredibly bright, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, and someone you can rely on to always come up with the best strategy.

 

Alec is brilliant. He is sharp-witted, excellent with clients, brilliant on his feet and someone who really gets the commercial angles of his cases.

Caley is extremely bright and has a lovely style. He is pragmatic, good with solicitors and particularly good for complex insolvency and fraud matters.

 

His advocacy is very measured and he gets his points across in simple terms.

 

Caley is calm and moderate in manner, and produces opinions that are both measured and sophisticated.

Edmund is brave and very good at identifying arguments. He understands the client's goals and runs commercially minded arguments. He is detailed, assured and someone whom judges seem to love.

 

Edmund is a real problem solver, who is practical and looks creatively for solutions. His courtroom performances are always excellent and he has formidable client skills.

He is a great leader, whose cross-examination skills are amazing.

 

George is very experienced. Excellent in front of clients, he advises in a very easy manner and is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and muck in with the team.

Matthew is a very good advocate. He is a street fighter, who will always give you a good run in court.

 

A speaker of sense, whose submissions cut to the chase. He separates the wheat from the chaff, and is a determined advocate, whom it's a pleasure to work with.

Michael has superb legal skills. His merchant banking background enables him to understand the commercial and City background to the matters he advises on.
