What the Team is Known For
Maddocks stands out for its mid-market focus, ready access to partners and close attention to client service, and adept handling of technically complex matters. Its comprehensive sector coverage includes prominent activity in the agriculture, healthcare and retail sectors and is backed by the ability to advise on related commercial and taxation issues. The team offers niche expertise in the representation of the founders of companies looking to sell off all or a majority stake to private equity sponsors. It is active advising listed companies on multi-jurisdictional acquisitions and also represents notable private equity outfits in acquisitions and disposals.
Strengths
I find them to be very responsive and very efficient in the provision of advice. The advice is very clear and when there are tricky issues, they provide excellent options to deal with them.
They have a very good balance between commercial and legal advice. Particularly in the acquisition space, you don't get everything you desire, and they have been very good at providing that balance.
They took the time to listen, understand and execute key deal items.
Work Highlights
Maddocks advised Australian Retirement Trust on its acquisition of a 49% equity interest in Mirvac Industrial Venture, which owns industrial warehouse assets known as Switchyard at Auburn NSW and Aspect North at Kemps Creek NSW.
Maddocks advised Bandon Fitness, an investment vehicle of Sentinel Capital Partners, on its entry into the Australian market, including its acquisition of numerous Australian franchises and partnership with an Australian franchisee.
