About

Provided by Lakatos, Köves & Partners

Our Banking & Finance practice is one of the largest and most experienced in the Hungarian market. We advise leading domestic and international banks, financial institutions, funds, sponsors, investors and corporate borrowers on the full spectrum of domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

The team combines strong transactional capabilities with extensive regulatory and restructuring expertise. Our work includes acquisition, corporate, real estate, project and aviation finance; refinancings and debt restructurings; NPL portfolio transactions; financial regulatory matters; and security and enforcement issues. We regularly handle complex multi-jurisdictional mandates requiring close coordination with international counsel and input from our corporate, competition, real estate and regulatory specialists.

Recent highlights include advising KKR and a large group of senior lenders on the Hungarian aspects of the cross-border restructuring and recapitalisation of Accell Group, as well as advising on major NPL transactions and sophisticated aviation finance and leasing mandates.

Led by Szabolcs Mestyán and John Fenemore, the practice is particularly recognised for its expertise in FDI-sensitive financings, distressed debt and restructurings, financial regulation and aviation finance. A dedicated knowledge management function supports the delivery of consistently up-to-date, efficient and commercially focused advice.
