We are one of the largest professional negligence teams outside London, led by three experienced and well-respected partners, Jeremy Riley, Claire Bushen and Tom Pelham.
The team has continued to grow and has embedded itself as the one of the leading teams in the Professional Negligence and Financial Institutions sector.
We have significantly expanded our client base still further this past year, adding Barbican and Sompo International as new clients and securing new work streams from CNA Hardy, BMW, NHS, AmTrust and Griffiths & Armour.
Complex, high value work for insurers
We are instructed to defend the full range of professionals, and advise on insurance coverage issues. We are a preferred provider in relation to solicitors’ defence and coverage work. We also defend claims relating to Directors and Officers insurance.
Over the past 12 months, the team has been instructed on more than 200 professional negligence matters, some being “balance book breaking” claims for certain insurers.
We are consistently on the other side (or co-defending) with other Band 1 law firms, such as Clyde & Co, Mills & Reeve, Weightmans, Herbert Smith Freehills, Mayer Brown, Simmons & Simmons etc.
The team’s strength is demonstrated by the rapidly increasing number of instructions received to defend complex, high value claims, particularly against solicitors and construction professionals, including cross jurisdiction cases.
