About

Provided by Hudgell Solicitors

Hudgell Solicitors has a vastly experienced Yorkshire Clinical Negligence team boasting the expertise to handle cases of the most complex in nature and highest-value in terms of settlement.
The team works on many cases which require extensive legal and medical investigations, and, given the substantial damages quite rightly sought, are often fiercely contested by defendants.
The firm has a strong caseload of birth negligence work, in which clients have suffered life-limiting conditions including Cerebral Palsy and Erbs Palsy. These cases involve seeking substantial damages to cover long-term care and home-adaptations.
Hudgells also has a track-record of taking on cases which many other firms may reject due to their difficult and challenging nature, and in terms of establishing breach and causation, taking cases all the way to court, to be considered by a judge, when acceptable terms of settlement cannot be reached out of court.
This was demonstrated by winning a high-court case in November 2021 – and a potential £20m damages settlement for a client born severely disabled. This took a nine-year battle as the NHS Trust involved insisted the case had no substance.
Agreeing interim payments is a key focus, ensuring clients have access to the earliest possible support to provide suitable accommodation, equipment and rehabilitative treatment. An interim payment of £1.25million was secured this year for a client.
