Hodge Jones & Allen pursues public law challenges arising from areas of law in which we have expertise including: crime, actions against the police, miscarriages of justice, inquests, personal injury and clinical negligence. Our expertise in these areas allows us to identify and act upon unlawful decisions and to find creative routes to hold public bodies to account.
We advise on challenges concerning failures of prisons to prevent mentally unwell inmates from committing suicide, failures of care homes to adequately care for residents, police failures to conduct effective rape investigations, NHS failure’s to provide life-sustaining treatment, and the government’s failure to reduce pollution levels.
We’re committed to assisting those who are weak, vulnerable and those whose voices are not heard. We seek to pursue both high profile cases and those which are of particular significance to individuals affected by unjust decisions. We advise on when complaints should be pursued or matters directed to an Ombudsman or other complaint body, prior to or instead of pursuing public law challenges through the courts. We look at all funding options for public law cases. We have expertise of acting for NGOs and charities which intervene in support of critical legal challenges.
We also have expertise representing individuals in public inquiries and assist in ensuring that individuals’ concerns are properly explored by public inquiries.
