Gibson Dunn represented Dewberry Capital before the US Supreme Court in a trademark dispute concerning the scope of profits recoverable under the Lanham Act. The Court unanimously vacated a Fourth Circuit–affirmed award requiring Dewberry to disgorge nearly $43 million in profits earned by non‑party corporate affiliates, holding that the statute permits recovery only of the defendant’s own profits.

Most of the associates and counsel we have been lucky enough to have on our matters have been extraordinarily talented, with multiple federal clerkships. As important, we receive extreme responsiveness and an egoless approach, and they're respectful and a pleasure to work with.
Gibson Dunn is one of the most well-connected law firms that we work with and, in our experience, has top talent in all the subject matter areas that impact our business. It's a rare combination, which makes it easy to choose Gibson for advice on thorny issues that are multifaceted and cross-functional.
They're excellent writers, excellent oral advocates, and very thoughtful and strategic.
They are always thinking three steps ahead when making their arguments, in an effort to serve client needs in the case before them as well as in future cases. They allow plenty of time for collaboration and ensuring the client understands their legal approach to a matter.
They provided exceptional research and legal analysis; they were very responsive, and they produced great work product.

Jeffrey Wall has a formidable reputation for the quality and pedigree of his appellate practice, earning praise for his impressive track record before the Supreme Court.
Jeff Wall was great. He provided a great strategy and had no ego, dealing well with everyone and getting agreement. He brings a rare set of skills.
He's superb; he's top in class in the United States.

He is a superb advocate. He has the ability to engage with judges at every level, in a way that I have not seen any other lawyer be able to do. He's very respectful and effective at pushing back.

Allyson Ho is particularly adept at handling cases in the Fifth Circuit. Her expertise extends nationally, and she has experience acting for clients across the country in federal and state courts.
Allyson is a fantastic legal mind, lawyer and person. She draws on her extensive knowledge and experience to develop legal arguments with the goal of honoring the rule of law, but also appreciating businesses' need for clear and consistent rules.

She is a very good demeanor with advising clients, in a way that takes the complex and makes it simple.

He is my go-to lawyer on difficult, complex, significant legal questions that require a sophisticated appellate strategy. He's a bright legal mind who knows the law and appellate issues better than 99.9% of the Bar.

She's very strong on telecoms – it's a very complicated area, but she makes it look easy.

Jonathan Bond is a highly regarded appellate litigator with a strong track record in arguing appeals before state and federal courts throughout the country in issues surrounding administrative law, labor and employment matters and wider commercial cases, among others.
He's scarily smart, with raw intellectual power.

Theane Evangelis, co-chair of Gibson Dunn's litigation practice, is a highly-regarded appellate lawyer. Alongside experience arguing before the Supreme Court, Theane regularly represents clients in the Ninth Circuit and in state courts.

Thomas Dupree is particularly noted for his expertise in the transport sector, as part of a broad appellate practice that also includes strengths in intellectual property, employment law and shareholder disputes.
He's an incredibly talented advocate.
Everything stands out with Tom. He has a great approach and demeanor. He's extremely intelligent, very aware of the subject and of the approach, and handles himself well under pressure – and he provides outstanding service.
His strength is his appellate work, but he's a problem solver. He has the intellect, but is also practical. He can resolve a situation.
