Paul Hopkins (Dispute Resolution) heads up the sports and Leisure Industry Sector team. The Team operates across departments and includes specialist lawyers who advise on employment, property, charity, commercial, litigation, corporate and private client matters.
Traditionally, we act for governing bodies and sports clubs including Welsh Sports Association, British Boxing Board of Control (professional boxing), Cardiff Blues Limited (Rugby), FAW Football in the Community Limited and Cardiff City FC Foundation (football), Swim Wales (Swimming), Cardiff Devils and Elite Ice Hockey League (Ice Hockey).
In 2012 we established a wholly owned subsidiary called EngageSport LLP headed up by Robert (Bob) Norster the former Chief Executive of Cardiff Blues and an ex Wales and British and Irish Lion Rugby International. Paul Hopkins and Jeff Pearson are also directors. EngageSport is a sports management company specialising in sports business solutions and management to brands, rights holders and professional athletes. The business has its own legal requirements serviced by the law firm but also refers work to Geldards as appropriate from the players and sports bodies that it engages with.
