We have an excellent reputation in the field of contentious trust and probate work, both in Yorkshire and nationally. We are known for advising in respect of complex and high value litigation including claims under the Inheritance Act, will validity challenges, trustee and executor removal applications, rectification and/or construction applications, contested court of protection work, estoppel claims, general trust and estate disputes, equitable ownership disputes and burial disputes.

With the hire of Carla Rist in July 2023, James Wright in March 2024, and the return of Nicola Heslop from maternity leave in 2025, the team has strengthened its presence in the northern regions with many local firms sending their conflict referrals and complex cases to us.

2025 and 2026 have been busy years for the team in terms of both case work and profile raising. We predict that, with our growing reputation locally, and the fact that these types of disputes are becoming more prevalent, the team will continue to grow and build on its strengths going forward.

All team members are active members of both the Northern Contentious Probate Group and the local Sheffield/Chesterfield group of contentious probate lawyers.

We also have a recognised specialism in the field of independent estate administration. The team’s case work in this continues to grow, particularly with direct referrals from firms and barristers based in London.
