Sanctions can take many different forms and as well as country specific sanctions programmes we are now also seeing an increase in thematic sanctions which target individuals/entities associated with specific themes (for example, cyber, human rights, global anti-corruption, terrorism). The global nature of sanctions means that compliance can often be a difficult area to navigate with competing legal and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
