About

Provided by Eversheds Sutherland

Our Iraq offices in Baghdad, Erbil and associate office in Basra, assist foreign companies and governments participating in the multilateral effort of reconstructing Iraq by providing efficient and comprehensive legal advice for those seeking long-term benefits from investing in Iraq and the Kurdistan region. Since the opening of our first office in 2003, we have been providing advice on foreign investment, M&A, commercial transactional work and general corporate matters.

We have particular know-how and experience in advising companies within the financial sector, oil and gas, construction, telecommunications and logistics. Our clients include global oil and gas companies, leading international, regional and national banks, and multinational construction companies. During 2017 and 2018, we have been active in transactional and finance work. Our litigation practice continues to grow despite a challenging economic climate with active Iraq related litigations and arbitrations in Amman, Dubai, Basra, Baghdad and Erbil.

We have a team of over 100 lawyers in seven offices across five countries in the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Jordan (Amman), Qatar (Doha), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh; Mohammed AlDhabaan & Partners in association with Eversheds Sutherland), and in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Baghdad and Erbil). Our lawyers are qualified to practice in Middle Eastern jurisdictions, England and Wales, and the US.
