Social Housing: Tenants

Duncan Lewis' Social Housing department, based across England and Wales, are experts in all aspects of housing law. They have achieved noteworthy success handling cases from the County Court to the Supreme Court. The team offers representation in a wide range ofsocial housing matters, including homelessness, disrepair, unlawful eviction, succession for tenants, pocession proceedings, neighbourhood disputes against local authorities, appeals, and judicial reviews.

The department has a significant presence in County Court Possession Duty Schemes enabling the team to specialise in defending tenants in possession and unlawful eviction cases on a weekly basis.

The team has also developed a niche expertise in handling Equality Act defence cases, enabling a number of vulnerable clients to be assisted with their housing matters through the means of submitting Equality Act defences.

The team assists vulnerable clients, including those with learning difficulties, terminal illnesses, severe mental health conditions, and victims of torture, trafficking or domestic violence. The team has close links with community organisations, domestic violence units, airports, prisons, detention centres, interpreters, and other law centres.
