About

Provided by Drummond Woodsum

Drummond Woodsum’s nationwide Indian law practice provides the highest quality services to sovereign Indian tribal governments and their enterprises and to companies that do business with tribes.

Our lawyers started working in federal Indian law in the early 1980s before the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act attracted a multitude of law firms to the field. At that time, only a handful of lawyers represented tribal nations. We successfully litigated some of the early cases in Indian gaming for tribes, and we have been on the cutting edge in fighting for tribal sovereignty. Having worked with tribal nations in New England and across the country for well over 30 years, we draw upon an unmatched depth of experience and understanding of the unique issues and challenges in Indian country. We pledge to bring every ounce of that experience and knowledge to bear upon our services to our clients.

We regularly work as special counsel with local or in-house lawyers for our tribal clients, and we take pride in promptly delivering the highest quality legal advice in a cost-efficient manner. Our team consists of over 20 lawyers practicing federal Indian law, but we have the advantage of working in a large, full-service law firm. Thus, we draw upon lawyers and non-lawyer consultants with a wide range of expertise to meet the particular needs of tribal clients.
