Based in Vancouver, DLA Piper Canada's British Columbia Corporate group is known for and is involved in complex transactions in various industries, most notably in the real estate, forestry, mining, and other natural resources sectors. This group has a very strong roster of Japan-based clients, China-based clients, and Forestry clients to carry out their BC-based work. In addition, the group completes various transactions in the industries of technology, projects (P3) secondary market, and is engaged in numerous corporate reorganizations, acquisitions and divestitures.

The group’s commercial expertise is rooted in the development of the natural resource industries of Western and Northern Canada over the last century. Much of this development has occurred through off-shore and cross-border investment and M&A. As a consequence, they have special expertise structuring and carrying out the acquisitions and investments of off-shore and cross-border investors.

The group is unique in that it is fully integrated into the global DLA Piper Corporate practice group, allowing it to draw upon the combined M&A experience of more than 300 lawyers in North America and a significant number of global M&A counterparts. Accordingly, they are able to provide clients with comprehensive and seamless global strategic advice to meet the challenges frequently faced by international companies.
