About

Provided by Conyers

The litigation department of this office started in 2007 and is headed by Erik Bodden and Jonathon Milne. Onshore law firms in Asia, London and New York recognise our team as a leader for Cayman Islands litigation and restructuring expertise and represent the core of our client base. Due to the reputation of our strong team of senior lawyers, we continue to receive a steady stream of high-quality, interesting and important instructions from key clients – auditors, financial institutions, hedge funds, major corporations and their directors.

Insolvency and funds litigation is the core of our practice and we receive instructions from liquidators, creditors and companies. We have recently seen an increased number of shareholder disputes in the form of contested winding up petitions on the just and equitable ground.

Trust disputes form another substantial part of our practice, and we receive instructions from beneficiaries and trustees. We are involved in substantial trust litigation and also in the restructuring of trusts that involve court applications. Some of the instructions involve trusts holding very large assets.

Corporate disputes of all types form another substantial area of practice. These can be shareholder disputes, disputes about the operation of hedge funds or claims for breach of director’s duties.
