Control Risks

About

Provided by Control Risks

Control Risks was founded in 1975 as a professional security advisory firm to the insurance industry. In its first several years as a subsidiary of an insurance broker, Control Risks’ services were designed to help minimize the broker’s exposure to kidnap and ransom pay-outs. Our spectrum of activities quickly expanded as an outgrowth of the skills of our security experts, who brought valuable consulting experience in the fields of crisis management, incident response and security organization. These experts were joined shortly by political and security risk analysts, and we achieved independence in 1982 following a management buyout.

In 2010, Control Risks launched an eDiscovery service offering to support organizations with complex, multinational litigation issues. That service eventually evolved into partnerships with best-in-class solutions providers, Relativity and Nuix. The eDiscovery practice supports nearly all investigative matters, including the largest single consulting matter in the firm’s history: Control Risks partnership with Hogan Lovells to help with the internal investigation at Eletrobras. This major global investigation, centered in Brazil, set out to untangle allegations of issues related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and related crimes against local Brazilian law involving more than 650 custodians, comprising about 225 TB of data from 2,030 data sources.
