About

Provided by Barclay Damon LLP

Our Energy and Regulatory Practice Areas are best known for providing our clients with experienced industry teams that are results-oriented and that integrate our strong understanding of legal, regulatory, business, technical, and political issues to achieve our clients’ goals.

We represent some of the world’s largest and most diverse energy companies as well as a number of private equity firms and investment banks. We also represent the largest cable companies in New York.

Key to our success is our depth and relevant experience. We count among our members former high-level public and corporate officials, including:

·      Former attorney for the NYS Department of Public Service (DPS)

·      Former deputy general counsel to the New York State Energy and Research Authority

·      Former lead attorney for federal energy regulatory affairs in the Law Department at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. (now a subsidiary of National Grid USA)

We are particularly known for, among other things, regulatory matters that involve the siting of large linear projects and generation projects. This record is reflected in some recent high-profile energy projects the firm has handled. We are also currently lead outside counsel to Invenergy for its various renewable energy generation projects in the pre-application phase under NY Executive Law 94-c before the NY Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES). Matters handled by the firm’s energy and regulatory teams frequently receive media coverage.
