Baker McKenzie's Tokyo IP Tech group is a market leading team comprising both Japanese and foreign lawyers. We have one of Tokyo's largest and most prestigious IP law practices for an international law firm with 15 specialist attorneys in a team of 30 individuals.
Baker McKenzie Tokyo has had IP capabilities from the outset of when the office was started in 1972. All our lawyers are bilingual English/Japanese speakers, with an understanding of cultural and linguistic sensitivities – key to successfully doing business in Japan. The team comprises foreign registered lawyers (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi), domestic lawyers (bengoshi) and patent lawyers (benrishi). Additionally, we have the resources of over 190 trademark specialists in our IP Support Unit in Manila and Belfast.
Our global IP Tech team works together to plan and execute multi-jurisdictional strategies to protect our clients’ IP rights. We are able to simplify and cost-effectively manage cumbersome tasks from the coordination of global trademark and patent searches and regional anti-counterfeiting programs, to the planning and implementation of IP filing and enforcement strategies. The team regularly works on cross-border IP matters across the Asia Pacific region and beyond, and collaborates with Baker McKenzie's wide global network of offices to address issues confronting our multinational clients.
