About

Provided by Baker Botts L.L.P.

The Baker Botts Climate Change and Sustainability team helps clients identify and manage the legislative, regulatory, economic, and legal risks arising from climate change. Drawing on a cross-disciplinary bench, the team guides clients through a patchwork of U.S. and international climate policies and regulations. Clients rely on the team for advice on greenhouse gas regulation, climate and sustainability disclosures and scenario analysis, and emissions offsets, carbon credit trading, and related transactions. The practice also supports renewable and clean energy projects across development, permitting, financing, and disputes; advises on appliance efficiency standards and building codes; and counsels on carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) issues such as permitting, liability allocation, and property rights. Additional capabilities include low-carbon and renewable fuels programs, defense of climate tort claims, strategies for local fuel/product bans, and counseling on ESG, “greenwashing,” and consumer protection matters.
