BKL’s IP Practice Group is comprised of experts with various legal and technical backgrounds, including attorneys-at-law, foreign-qualified attorneys, patent and trademark prosecution attorneys, of counsel consultants, and ex-regulatory officers, allowing us to call upon a specialized team of experts for any matter we handle.
The BKL IP Practice Group provides the highest level of services to our clients based on our expertise and hands-on experience in the areas of IP litigation and dispute resolution. Our services in this area encompass representing clients in connection with the enforcement and dispute resolution involving IPR, including litigation, invalidation and revocation of trial decisions relating to patents, utility models, trademarks and design rights, and litigation for infringement of copyrights and trade secrets, as well as mediation and arbitration involving IP-related disputes.
The members of the BKL IP Practice Group include former judges of the Patent Court and the Supreme Court, who bring their extensive experiences from their days as IP judges. We also have patent attorneys who have reviewed cases at the Intellectual Property Tribunal and the Patent Court.

- Bae, Kim & Lee represented Iljin Diamond in a patent infringement claim regarding polycrystalline diamond cutters filed by US Synthetic before the US ITC and the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. No violation was found by either the administrative law judge or the ITC, on grounds of the invalidity of the plaintiff's patents.

Notable Practitioners
Kwon Taeck Soo brings to bear his valuable experience as a former Patent Court and High Court judge to represent clients in patent invalidations, infringement cases and copyright disputes. He represents clients from a range of industries including pharmaceuticals, electronics and online gaming.
Lee Hoo Dong is well known for his long-term involvement in the IP market. He is particularly well versed in patent litigation in both the domestic and international spheres, and Japan in particular. He brings to bear over two decades of experience handling contentious IP work and advises domestic clients from the manufacturing and technology industries.
Kim Jihyun is well regarded for her experience in contentious IP matters, particularly in relation to trade secret, copyright and data protection issues. Her expertise attracts regular instructions from clients in a broad range of industries such as technology, media, and food and beverages. She also offers advice on non-contentious IP mandates and has advised Korean clients subject to US ITC investigations.
Kang Kijoong ascends in the rankings thanks to strong market support and is the leader of Bae, Kim & Lee's IP practice group. He has substantial experience handling cross-border IP disputes, and is particularly skilled in patent infringement and trade secret litigation.
Park Junghi built up long experience as a judge before joining Bae, Kim & Lee in 2013 to assist clients with contentious IP work. He regularly handles patent litigation, with a particular focus on pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical patents.
